The wāhine behind Homie

Kia ora!

Kia ora, I’m Chelsea Waru, founder of Homie and a mortgage adviser who wanted to do things a little differently. I started Homie because I believe getting a mortgage shouldn’t feel overwhelming, out of reach or purely transactional. It should be simple, supportive, and tailored to you - like you're working with a mate.

I like to keep things real. I’m the kind of adviser who talks straight and cares about the people I work with. Most of my clients are first-home buyers, whānau, and everyday people looking for clear guidance. I make sure you understand what’s happening and why, so it feels doable rather than overwhelming.

Outside of Homie, I’m a wife and māmā to four. Those roles keep me grounded and remind me why having a secure home matters so much. That’s also why this work means the world to me - I get to help others achieve something truly life-changing.  I love seeing people move into their first home, take the next step in their property journey, and feel excited about what’s ahead. At the end of the day, it’s about making this big part of life feel a little less scary and a lot more exciting, and being there with you every step of the way.
